Description

The global pandemic caused by the virus known as COVID-19 affects us all. Human insecurity is particularly great these days. This makes it all the more important to be able to offer your patients a safe, uncomplicated test method that can be used to reliably assess their state of health.

With the MEDITE SARS-CoV-2 test for the detection of antibodies in the blood of patients, you can now check suspected cases of any age quickly and easily. Your patients will get certainty about their state of health within a very short time.

By using blood, the throat swab, often perceived as unpleasant, is no longer necessary for the patient.

The MEDITE SARS-CoV-2 test is

  • Fast: The test result is available within three to ten minutes
  • Simple: Only a few steps are necessary for carrying it out
  • Reliable: Antibodies are stable in the blood for a long time
  • Inexpensive: No additional equipment or special installations are required

The rapid result qualifies the test for use at all relevant points. In hospitals and medical facilities as well as in public institutions and at congested areas such as airports, universities or companies, the test can be performed by medical personnel without further training.

Before

To perform a test, you need

  • A small blood sample from the patient (serum or plasma is recommended, whole blood samples are also possible)
  • A new MEDITE SARS-CoV-2 test
  • A clean environment and
  • ten minutes time per test

The test is easy to do and can be performed right away by medical personnel without additional training. A test contains

  • one test cassette
  • one pipette
  • a pack of desiccants

One package contains 20 tests and sufficient sample diluent. The tests can be transported and stored in their packaging at room temperature (2 °C to 30 °C) in a dry place protected from direct light.

The reliability of the test results has been demonstrated in a comparative clinical study.

Taking the test

Wykonanie szybkiego testu na przeciwciała MEDITE COVID-19:

Application of the MEDITE COVID-19 antibody rapid test

  1. Remove the test from the packaging. Place the test cassette on a clean surface. Use the test within 30 minutes after removal!
  2. Add 15 µl of blood (serum or plasma; 20 µl for whole blood samples) to the S well of the test cassette.
  3. Add two drops of sample diluent (approximately 80 µl) and stop the time.
  4. Wait at least 3 minutes before evaluating the test. Please do not read the results after ten minutes. Never use a test more than once.

How to evaluate the SARS-CoV-2 antibody test

Within the next 3 to 10 minutes, purple-red stripes will appear in the test areas of the test device. Three different test areas are defined:

  • Test area C: This area indicates the validity of the test. If no strip appears in this area, the test result is not valid.
  • Test area IgG: This area indicates immobilized goat-anti-human IgG antibodies
  • IgM test region: This region identifies immobilized mouse-anti-human IgM antibodies

The following valid positive results are possible:

  • Strips in the C and IgG regions: antibodies are present in the IgG region
  • Strips in areas C and IgM: antibodies are present in the IgM area
  • Strips in the regions C, IgG and IgM: antibodies are present in the regions IgG and IgM

The following valid negative result is possible:

  • Strips in area C: No antibodies were detected

If strips appear in the IgG and/or IgM areas but not in area C, the result is not valid. Refer to the instruction manual to verify that the test was performed correctly.

Requirements

To obtain a reliable result, the time of infection should be three to 14 days ago.

The test used should be used within 30 minutes after opening the package. Do not use a test more than once.

Check that quality control strip C is displayed during the test period.

Please note the different conditions for the use of serum, plasma and whole blood samples. Ensure that the samples are at the specified temperature and use fresh samples if possible.

The test is not suitable for patients with severe haemolysis, high blood lipid levels, jaundice and high rheumatoid factor.

The test is not suitable for diagnosis on its own. The result should be comprehensively evaluated by a physician with the consultation of further clinical information.
